WHAT I LEARNED FROM HOSTING AN INSTAGRAM LOOP GIVEAWAY

Some how Instagram loops have received a bad name and so many people don’t want to participate and don’t even think about hosting an Instagram loop. I am not the type of person that will take someone word as the final answer so I decided to try it myself. I had no idea what I was doing but jumped in the head first and wanted to share with you what I have learned from hosting a loop.

WHAT IS AN INSTAGRAM LOOP

Now if you’re anything like me, you have no idea what an Instagram loop is or what they even look like so let me try to explain. An Instagram loop is a giveaway that someone enters that makes the individual follow several accounts.

In the loop giveaway, after you follow everyone in the loop, you are entered for a chance to win products or services based on what was selected by the host and those in the loop.

Typically, loops have been known to have a host of individuals to follow that you may get tired of clicking follow which inevitably end it those stop following.

Not only did the extensive following make it experience less than pleasurable for the individuals but typically once the winner is announced, that mass amount of followers tend to massively withdraw their follow. This leaves you with a faction of the followers gained when you first started.

HOW IT’S DONE

When you decide that you want to host a loop giveaway on Instagram, you must first determine who you want to join the loop with you. It’s important to select those accounts that will compliment your brand.

You don’t want to select an account that does not align with your brand as you are indirectly supporting this account. Not only are you saying that you support them but the account is also indirectly representing you.

When determining who you want to join you, it’s important to determine what you want to ask everyone to give to join the loop and know what day and how long you would like the loop to last.

GIVEAWAY OPTIONS

There are a variety of things you can giveaway in a loop. The options are totally up to you or you can request feedback from those that accepted your request to join the loop. Here a few options:

  • Giveaway Service or Products

This is the cheapest method to hosting a giveaway. Depending on your business, this can cost you as little or as much as you want. If you already have products available, then giving away some for free would only cost you what you paid for it.

  • Giveaway Money or Items

You will attract a ton of followers with this option, hands down. The incentive to possibly receive money or free items is always a great enticer for any followers. Decide on a budget for you and your potential participants of the loop and determine how it will be delivered.

Keep in mind that those participating in the loop all have different financial situations so requesting a reasonable amount would be ideal.

  • Combination

This is also a great options as the winner can get the best of both worlds of service and money or items. This would be something that should be discussed in-depth with those that agree to be apart of the loop.

MY STRATEGY

I decided to go with a service giveaway since I was unsure of how it would work and didn’t want to ask for monetary good therefore I decided on a services loop giveaway. I keep the number of those involved under 12 and requested that everyone added something of value to the giveaway for our winner.

I scheduled the loop to start on a Sunday and ended on Tuesday which equaled two full days.

WHAT I LEARNED

LESSON 1: As I stated, the loop lasted two days and during the two days, I gained a totaled of 300 followers. After the loop winner was announced, I lost 120 followers.

Though I tried to prevent losing the followers, it was inevitably that some people will bail after being notified of the winner. Losing those followers that wasn’t interested in my brand and what I did was completely find with me as those are followers that would not purchase my services due to the lack of interest.

However, those that decided to stick around have been great additions to my audience as they frequent comment, like, and purchase different products that I have available.

Having less followers that turn into customers is a lot better than having a ton of followers that don’t engage or respond when I’m posting.

LESSON 2: I also learned that hosting a loop giveaway gives you the opportunity to meet and engage with other like-minded individuals that you may have never met before.

With most of those from the loop, I keep contact with them and support them on what they are doing. I love having a group of women I can communicate with and bounce ideas off of whenever I’m creating something new.

LESSON 3: Giving away one of your services in the loop is a great opportunity to showcase your awesomeness and a great option for gaining a useful testimonial.

Notify the winner that you would like to gain a testimonial from them about the services or products they received and use it on your website or in your sale pages.

WHAT I RECOMMEND YOU DO

As you can see, I learned a lot from hosting an Instagram loop and here’s what I recommend you do if you decide to host your own loop.

RECOMMENDATION 1:

Keep your loop number low

Because the loop giveaway has such a negative connotation with being such a long, lengthy process and people not wanting to join, I recommend keeping your number low. Stay within 8-12 people in the loop.

A way to also make it easier for those in the loop is to list each individual account in the caption. A lot of people stated they appreciated preferred the list of followers instead of clicking each follower.

Though that’s against the entire idea of an Instagram loop (the Instagram “loop” signify going to one person’s account and that account linking to another person’s account). This is totally up to you.

RECOMMENDATION 2:

Giveaway things related to your business

I have a service business therefore I did not want to simply giveaway money but wanted to attract those that are in my target market. I recommend you do the same and keep the giveaway related to your business.

For example, if you are a graphic designer, giveaway things that attract your audience such as three months free of Adobe Photoshop, one year subscription for Squarespace, or free design for their homepage.

Giveaway items such as this will attract your following and discourage those that aren’t interested to join the giveaway.

RECOMMENDATION 3:

Keep in contact

After the loop is over, don’t stop talking to all those that were apart of the loop. Reach out to them to follow-up and to build a relationship. This is a great way to network with other as you never know what you can offer them or what they can offer you.

Plus, you can create lifetime friends with individuals that you may have never had the opportunity to meet. Follow-up with them even if you do not want anything. Keeping in contact will truly show your character and create a pleasant thought with others.

RECOMMENDATION 4:

TREAT THIS AS A PAYING CUSTOMER OR CLIENT

Though whatever you are giving away will be free, it still comes at a cost to you. Word of mouth is still the number one way to get clients and customers therefore you always want to do your best no matter if the product is free or thousands of dollars.

You want your brand and/or your product to be a great reflection of what you do. Leaving a great impression on a customer or client will most always lead to them telling someone about you and what you offer.

Now you know what you need to do to host an Instagram loop, go forth and try it. I look forward to hearing from you.

Have you completed a loop before? If so, what was your experience? Do you think you would try it again? If you haven’t completed a loop, do you plan on trying it soon? Let me know in the comments below.

What’s Needed to Run Your Business without a Website

Here’s the top secret you have been waiting for.

The way for you to run your business without a website is by using a landing page. Yes, it’s shocking I know but it’s so easy to do and it’s truly the only thing you need to run a successful business.

The reason that people get websites are for blogs, contacts, to sell products or services, and social credibility. All these reasons are great but if you can’t afford it, a landing page will work just fine.

I previously started a business selling mugs and graphic t-shirts without a website and it was very lucrative and you can do it too.

What is a landing page

A landing page is the section of a website accessed by clicking a hyperlink on another web page meaning that a landing page will take you somewhere that the business wants you to go.

This works perfectly for you and your business because starting out, you may just want to sell one item or service. You can create your landing page to promote your product or service which then will allow your customers to purchase from a secondary site such as Paypal

How I did it

When starting that mug and graphic t-shirt business, I had limited funds and getting a website just wasn’t on my list of things I could afford. I immediately found Leadpages and created my landing page.

Here's how you can do it

1. Set up your account

Leadpages makes it pretty simple to set up your account. It quick and easy just as a opening an email account. Select "Get Leadpages" in the righthand corner to get started.

You have 3 options to choose which plan works best for you and your budget. The prices are a lot less than what you would pay to have a designer to create your unique website. I based my plan selection on my previous monthly expenses budget. If you do not have a plan, I suggest creating a budget now to ensure you stay within your limits.

2. Scroll to the top and select "Templates" to get access to a variety of premade templates for your landing page. The great thing about this is Leadpages previous researched all the templates and gives you the option to select the most converting pages. Awesome sauce!

3. After scrolling through all the selections ranging from webinar templates, giveaway, and opt-ins, select the template that works best for you and what you will be offering to your customers.

4. Edit the template by adding your brand colors, pictures, and font selection to tailor it just for your business. Remember the colors, font, and branding you are using on your social media platforms. It's important to stay consistent with your brand throughout all things related to your business.

5. When you have completed, your template, be sure to add the payment method link to the template so that it's simple for your customer to pay and collect their items or service.

You're done! Just that simple. After you have click publish, copy the link and add it to your social media accounts that you are active on.

What advantage would you have?

When you identify your ideal audience, it makes it easier for you to create content and easier for your audience to find you. I think that’s what you call a classic win-win situation.

1. What are you selling

First think about what you are selling. You really want to understand your product or services before creating content. Briefly explain your product or service.

2. Identify goals of your ICA

Now think about why you created it? What advantage does it have over your competition? Why would someone want your product or services?

STEP 2: WHO WANTS THIS PRODUCT

Your business won’t be for everyone and it shouldn’t be. Your services or products should only focus on one particular market. Now this isn’t to say other’s won’t purchase what you have to offer but you want to make sure that you are attracting the right people.

Answering these questions

1. How old is your ideal customer? (Age)

Determine which age range your ideal customer falls in. Reframe from placing a 20 or 30 year age range in this category as a20 year-old won’t be attracted to the same thing as a 50-year old would.

2. Gender

Pretty self-explanatory when it comes to create your ideal customer. Who will benefit most from your business, males or females?

3. Occupation

Is your customer unemployed or do they work 50-60 hours a week? Understanding what they do in their everyday lives is great to determining relatable content and good times to post.

4. Hobbies

Identifying your ideal customer’s hobbies is a good way to relate to them when it comes to posting your content on Instagram or any social media platform. Think about what they would most likely like to do and use that to your advantage.

5.Lifestyle

This is a very important factor when identifying your ideal customer. What do you think their lifestyle is like? Is your ideal customer a stay-at-home mother? Then you may guess her life is chaotic and juggling her home, fitness, children, husband, and other personal needs.

6. Martial Status

Though there’s actually no way of knowing if your audience is single, married, or divorced, it’s still important to identify this aspect of their lives. By knowing this information, it will be easier for you to create content based off of pain points.

7. Interest

Again, you may have no idea what they like but what do you think they would like? Remember this is your ideal customer based on your services or products.

Are you selling fitness products? Then you may can guess your ideal customer loves running, watching health eating programs, or learning about the newest gadget that keeps track of your steps.

STEP 3: RESEARCH YOUR COMPETITION

Unless you just invented a new product or service that will take the world by storm, then most likely you will have competition. It’s important for you to research your completion to see what they are doing currently.

1. Identify their strengths

Determine what’s working for them and how you can incorporate some of that aspect in your content. This should be a good inspiration for your own unique content.

Understand that incorporating some ideas that are working for your competition is not a free pass for your copy their work. Copycats are frowned upon and your followers will identify you as unoriginal. You don’t want that.

Sometimes it can get a bit discouraging when you are researching your competition and you notice how far behind you are in comparison. Know that your competition had to start someone and was once in your position.

Being consist and creating a plan for your success will get you to where you want to be in no time. This content creator will assist you with getting there even faster so stay focused and getting going.

2. Identify their weakness

I love this aspect of researching my competition. Though I get inspiration for a ton of accounts, I also get to identify what they are lacking and incorporate it into my own content. It’s a great way to set yourself apart from those in your industry.

STEP 4: IDENTIFY YOUR CONTENT

1. How will you monetize your business

It’s great that you have a product or service to sell but just simply selling that one services (i.e. copywriting) or product (i.e. mugs with quotes) won’t completely be enough.

You need to determine additional methods to make income for your business. It has been said that most millionaires have 7 streams of income. Though starting out, 7 may or may not be too many to juggle, adding different streams is a must to sustain.

Write out 2-3 additional methods of income to add to your business.

Now that you have completed this entire content plan, take all the information you have gathered and create your content based off of this. Each post you have should relate to what you have identified above.

You should have a good idea of when to post based on your ideal audience occupation and what to post based on their lifestyle and hobbies.

For example, you wouldn’t post an image of a 60 minute daily bootcamp with a stay-at-home mother as an ideal customer at 12 AM. That doesn’t fit your target. If your selling fitness, then post things that can be incorporated in their lives that are quick and easy.

Okay, now you’re on your own, my friend. By doing this, I know that you will be on your way to attracting your ideal followers and transition them into customers in no time.
