WHAT I LEARNED FROM HOSTING AN INSTAGRAM LOOP GIVEAWAY

Some how Instagram loops have received a bad name and so many people don’t want to participate and don’t even think about hosting an Instagram loop. I am not the type of person that will take someone word as the final answer so I decided to try it myself. I had no idea what I was doing but jumped in the head first and wanted to share with you what I have learned from hosting a loop.

WHAT IS AN INSTAGRAM LOOP

Now if you’re anything like me, you have no idea what an Instagram loop is or what they even look like so let me try to explain. An Instagram loop is a giveaway that someone enters that makes the individual follow several accounts.

In the loop giveaway, after you follow everyone in the loop, you are entered for a chance to win products or services based on what was selected by the host and those in the loop.

Typically, loops have been known to have a host of individuals to follow that you may get tired of clicking follow which inevitably end it those stop following.

Not only did the extensive following make it experience less than pleasurable for the individuals but typically once the winner is announced, that mass amount of followers tend to massively withdraw their follow. This leaves you with a faction of the followers gained when you first started.

HOW IT’S DONE

When you decide that you want to host a loop giveaway on Instagram, you must first determine who you want to join the loop with you. It’s important to select those accounts that will compliment your brand.

You don’t want to select an account that does not align with your brand as you are indirectly supporting this account. Not only are you saying that you support them but the account is also indirectly representing you.

When determining who you want to join you, it’s important to determine what you want to ask everyone to give to join the loop and know what day and how long you would like the loop to last.

GIVEAWAY OPTIONS

There are a variety of things you can giveaway in a loop. The options are totally up to you or you can request feedback from those that accepted your request to join the loop. Here a few options:

  • Giveaway Service or Products

This is the cheapest method to hosting a giveaway. Depending on your business, this can cost you as little or as much as you want. If you already have products available, then giving away some for free would only cost you what you paid for it.

  • Giveaway Money or Items

You will attract a ton of followers with this option, hands down. The incentive to possibly receive money or free items is always a great enticer for any followers. Decide on a budget for you and your potential participants of the loop and determine how it will be delivered.

Keep in mind that those participating in the loop all have different financial situations so requesting a reasonable amount would be ideal.

  • Combination

This is also a great options as the winner can get the best of both worlds of service and money or items. This would be something that should be discussed in-depth with those that agree to be apart of the loop.

MY STRATEGY

I decided to go with a service giveaway since I was unsure of how it would work and didn’t want to ask for monetary good therefore I decided on a services loop giveaway. I keep the number of those involved under 12 and requested that everyone added something of value to the giveaway for our winner.

I scheduled the loop to start on a Sunday and ended on Tuesday which equaled two full days.

WHAT I LEARNED

LESSON 1: As I stated, the loop lasted two days and during the two days, I gained a totaled of 300 followers. After the loop winner was announced, I lost 120 followers.

Though I tried to prevent losing the followers, it was inevitably that some people will bail after being notified of the winner. Losing those followers that wasn’t interested in my brand and what I did was completely find with me as those are followers that would not purchase my services due to the lack of interest.

However, those that decided to stick around have been great additions to my audience as they frequent comment, like, and purchase different products that I have available.

Having less followers that turn into customers is a lot better than having a ton of followers that don’t engage or respond when I’m posting.

LESSON 2: I also learned that hosting a loop giveaway gives you the opportunity to meet and engage with other like-minded individuals that you may have never met before.

With most of those from the loop, I keep contact with them and support them on what they are doing. I love having a group of women I can communicate with and bounce ideas off of whenever I’m creating something new.

LESSON 3: Giving away one of your services in the loop is a great opportunity to showcase your awesomeness and a great option for gaining a useful testimonial.

Notify the winner that you would like to gain a testimonial from them about the services or products they received and use it on your website or in your sale pages.

WHAT I RECOMMEND YOU DO

As you can see, I learned a lot from hosting an Instagram loop and here’s what I recommend you do if you decide to host your own loop.

RECOMMENDATION 1:

Keep your loop number low

Because the loop giveaway has such a negative connotation with being such a long, lengthy process and people not wanting to join, I recommend keeping your number low. Stay within 8-12 people in the loop.

A way to also make it easier for those in the loop is to list each individual account in the caption. A lot of people stated they appreciated preferred the list of followers instead of clicking each follower.

Though that’s against the entire idea of an Instagram loop (the Instagram “loop” signify going to one person’s account and that account linking to another person’s account). This is totally up to you.

RECOMMENDATION 2:

Giveaway things related to your business

I have a service business therefore I did not want to simply giveaway money but wanted to attract those that are in my target market. I recommend you do the same and keep the giveaway related to your business.

For example, if you are a graphic designer, giveaway things that attract your audience such as three months free of Adobe Photoshop, one year subscription for Squarespace, or free design for their homepage.

Giveaway items such as this will attract your following and discourage those that aren’t interested to join the giveaway.

RECOMMENDATION 3:

Keep in contact

After the loop is over, don’t stop talking to all those that were apart of the loop. Reach out to them to follow-up and to build a relationship. This is a great way to network with other as you never know what you can offer them or what they can offer you.

Plus, you can create lifetime friends with individuals that you may have never had the opportunity to meet. Follow-up with them even if you do not want anything. Keeping in contact will truly show your character and create a pleasant thought with others.

RECOMMENDATION 4:

TREAT THIS AS A PAYING CUSTOMER OR CLIENT

Though whatever you are giving away will be free, it still comes at a cost to you. Word of mouth is still the number one way to get clients and customers therefore you always want to do your best no matter if the product is free or thousands of dollars.

You want your brand and/or your product to be a great reflection of what you do. Leaving a great impression on a customer or client will most always lead to them telling someone about you and what you offer.

Now you know what you need to do to host an Instagram loop, go forth and try it. I look forward to hearing from you.

Have you completed a loop before? If so, what was your experience? Do you think you would try it again? If you haven’t completed a loop, do you plan on trying it soon? Let me know in the comments below.

What’s Needed to Run Your Business without a Website

Here’s the top secret you have been waiting for.

The way for you to run your business without a website is by using a landing page. Yes, it’s shocking I know but it’s so easy to do and it’s truly the only thing you need to run a successful business.

The reason that people get websites are for blogs, contacts, to sell products or services, and social credibility. All these reasons are great but if you can’t afford it, a landing page will work just fine.

I previously started a business selling mugs and graphic t-shirts without a website and it was very lucrative and you can do it too.

What is a landing page

A landing page is the section of a website accessed by clicking a hyperlink on another web page meaning that a landing page will take you somewhere that the business wants you to go.

This works perfectly for you and your business because starting out, you may just want to sell one item or service. You can create your landing page to promote your product or service which then will allow your customers to purchase from a secondary site such as Paypal

How I did it

When starting that mug and graphic t-shirt business, I had limited funds and getting a website just wasn’t on my list of things I could afford. I immediately found Leadpages and created my landing page.

Here's how you can do it

1. Set up your account

Leadpages makes it pretty simple to set up your account. It quick and easy just as a opening an email account. Select "Get Leadpages" in the righthand corner to get started.

You have 3 options to choose which plan works best for you and your budget. The prices are a lot less than what you would pay to have a designer to create your unique website. I based my plan selection on my previous monthly expenses budget. If you do not have a plan, I suggest creating a budget now to ensure you stay within your limits.

2. Scroll to the top and select "Templates" to get access to a variety of premade templates for your landing page. The great thing about this is Leadpages previous researched all the templates and gives you the option to select the most converting pages. Awesome sauce!

3. After scrolling through all the selections ranging from webinar templates, giveaway, and opt-ins, select the template that works best for you and what you will be offering to your customers.

4. Edit the template by adding your brand colors, pictures, and font selection to tailor it just for your business. Remember the colors, font, and branding you are using on your social media platforms. It's important to stay consistent with your brand throughout all things related to your business.

5. When you have completed, your template, be sure to add the payment method link to the template so that it's simple for your customer to pay and collect their items or service.

You're done! Just that simple. After you have click publish, copy the link and add it to your social media accounts that you are active on.

Each platform allows you to add a link for free. Also I use Bitly to shorten my web address to make it easier to use on your social media post and if you haven't guessed already, it's free.

See, eazy pleazy! You're well on your way to make bank without break it!

HAVE YOU HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH LANDING PAGES? IF SO, HAVE YOU USED IT IN THE PLACE OF YOUR WEBSITE?

WHAT IS A NICHE AND DO I REALLY NEED ONE

If you’re new to the blogging world and have been doing a little research, you may have heard the word niche before. I have had several clients ask, what the heck is a niche and do I really need one. Since I have explained this several times, I thought this would be a great blog to write about and help everyone that may be confused about this entire “niche” ordeal.

WHAT IS A NICHE

A niche is a a speciality industry or particular type of blog that holds the interest of a certain group of individuals. If you didn’t have a niche, then you may discuss things like travel, cooking, interior decorating, and painting.

That really doesn’t make it easy for your audience to remember you due to your multiple topics. However if you, for example, are into hiking, you may search for blogs or information on different hiking techniques, equipment, or places to purchase hiking gear. You may be able to find everything that you’re looking for in one blog’s site if that site has a hiking niche.

The same thing applies to you reading this blog. My niche is for bloggers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and all those in between that want to be successful with their start-ups and monetize their blogs. This is exactly why blogging niche’s are popular. Everything someone is looking for is in one area.

DO I REALLY NEED ONE

Of course you do, my friend. There are a few reasons you want to find your niche including:

1. Identifying yourself as an expert in the area

Peg Fitzpatrick found her niche with social media and even went as far as co-authoring a book titled the Art of Social Media. By doing this, she had coined herself an expert in social media.

2. Grow your following quicker

As the examples show you above, finding your niche makes it easy for your target market to find and follow you which grows your following way faster than without it. Kimra Luna does an excellent job with defining her niche of webinars and making her following grow exponentially.

3. Easier to transfer followers to customers

Charlene Johnson has a great blog about fitness which makes it easier for her to transition her readers into customers with her knowledge of fitness and earn money.

When you are discussing topics that your audience is interest in, then it’s super easy to offer them products or services that you know they will love instead of guessing if they would like it. Make sense right?!

In my opinion, your niche is really what you make of it. It’s truly your own thing so it’s not about fitting into a box but more so about find your own box and making it your own.

Just like in business, there may be thousands of people doing what you do but none will ever do it like you. This is the same principle. Take these steps in determining what your niche will be.

TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW

The easiest way to identify your niche is by writing on a topic you already know. Write about your passion or something that you have major experience in. Ask yourself:

  1. What can I talk about for hours on end?
  2. What something you can create multiple ideas about?
  3. What do people come to you for advice about?
  4. What are some books of interest that I would love to read?

After answering these questions, do you see a pattern or theme from your answers. Is there a certain thread that continuously was repeated? This is much like find your passion.

When you are passionate about something, you are less likely to run out of idea and more likely to create great discussion and give good information about the topic. Talking about what you know instead of what you think people want to know, will be way easier to turn your passion into a profit to earn money.

FIND THE HOLES

When I started my business, research what people were doing and found that a lot of blogs told you want to do but not exactly how to do. Most people, like me, need more direction than just talking about what is needed and that’s what I prided myself on offering.

I also am able to intertwine my behavior knowledge from my master’s degree to help my clients actually see results than leaving them to do it alone. I would recommend you do the same thing.

The number one advice to starting a business is finding the holes in your industry of interest and the same holds true for your blog. Think about what is missing in your industry and fill the void.

If you’re not sure what is actually missing then do some research. Locate 10-15 blogs that are in your industry or area of interest and find the holes. Ask yourself, what will people want or need that these blogs or business aren’t offering. To boost it up even more, tie in your previous knowledge to show that you can offer more than your potential competitor.

MAKE YOURSELF AN EXPERT

Though you know about this topic there are still things you can continue to learn to increase your knowledge. Read books, join discussion groups, take courses or whatever you need to do to learn more.

The world is continuously changing therefore you always want to stay update on what’s news. You also want to be able to answer as many questions as your potential customers may have about your niche.

IDEAS FOR NICHES

There are multiple niches that are out there and this list can help you identify some that may spark your interest or give you ideas of combining two to make a unique niche. Review some ideas to help get your rolling in the right direction.
